In the first of several high profile soccer matches taking place in the Alamo City this weekend, San Antonio FC will face off against OKC Energy FC Friday night at Toyota Field.

The nationally televised game gives San Antonio a chance to showcase Toyota Field and the Alamo City as a soccer market in the same vein as Cincinnati and Sacramento. In the midst of what could prove to be a year-long MLS expansion bidding process, a good showing Friday at Toyota Field coupled with good attendance for Sunday’s Gold Cup matches could help generate public buzz around the Spurs-led bid.

On the field, San Antonio FC has lost some of the cushion they held against the rest of the pack in the West as Swope Park Rangers have pulled to just 3 points behind SAFC on the USL Western Conference table, thanks in part to the incredible five match win streak and eight match undefeated streak. The last team to defeat the Kansas City side was San Antonio FC.

OKC has battled the injury bug lately. Coupled with massive player turnover in the offseason, including SAFC defender Cyprian Hedrick, the Oklahoma club has struggled in 2017 and currently sits in 11th place. However, OKC has always given SAFC trouble and remains undefeated in four meetings with the Alamo City.

Game Seventeen. San Antonio, TX. 7/14/2017. Kickoff 8:00 CDT

How to Watch: ESPNU, ESPN.com

How to Listen: Sirius XM FC

Keys for SAFC: Broken record time, the SAFC defense has been league-breakingly good. If the club can continue their momentum in the final third, the defense should hold the visitors.

Player to Watch:  Diego Restrepo makes his league return after serving a one match suspension. The league-leading Gold Glove candidate will look to put up a clean sheet, and doing so should guarantee an SAFC victory.

Pitch Black News Projected Starting XI (4-5-1): Restrepo; Newnam, Hedrick, Ibeagha, Cochrane; Tyrpak, Castillo, Vega, Reed, Forbes; Ajeakwa

Score Predictions:

Kyle Mahnke SAFC 3-0 OKC

Jonathan Check SAFC 1-0 OKC

Jose Mario Jimenez SAFC 2-0 OKC

Aaron Marvel SAFC 2-0 OKC

Jesus Miguel Garcia SAFC – OKC
