San Antonio FC (10-0-4, 34pts) hits the road this week to challenge Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (5-5-5, 20pts) for the final time of the 2017 USL Regular Season. The two teams played to a draw at Toyota Field on April 7th.

Fresh off a three-goal victory over Tulsa Roughnecks, the San Antonio FC attack will look to continue to find new ways to score. The Texas club’s league-best start to the season stalled out when forward Cesar Elizondo landed on the injury report. Midfielder Billy Forbes was awarded the league’s first ever USL Player of the Month award for his success in April, but the entire club had trouble finding the back of the net soon after, scoring only three goals from the beginning of May up until last Saturday’s dam-breaking 3-1 victory.

Despite the small amount of goals being scored, San Antonio FC is still the only undefeated professional club in all of North America. Looking to bring the undefeated streak to 15 matches against Colorado Springs, SAFC will likely rely heavily on their veteran-heavy defense. Goalkeeper Diego Restrepo leads all of USL with 7 clean sheets, bringing the team total to 10 clean sheets when you add Matt Cardone’s trio earned before succumbing to injury in Vancouver earlier in the season. While the goalkeepers have done their job well, the SAFC backline has done well to keep as much pressure off of them as possible.

If the SAFC defense can continue their dominance, the club should come home with at least a point from “Fortress Sandcreek.” Scoring against Colorado Springs could prove to be difficult with Moise Pouaty in goal, as he looks to add to his league-leading 45 saves. Fresh off a week that landed the club in SportsCenter Top 10 and USL Goal of the Week voting, the SAFC attack has to feel good about getting a chance to add to their total on Fox Sports Southwest.

Game Fifteen. Colorado Springs, CO. 6/24/2017. Kickoff 8:00 CDT
How to Watch: Fox Sports Southwest, SanAntonioFC.com, USL Match Center
Keys for SAFC: The club’s best attacking runs have been when there are multiple players involved. While Forbes or Tyrpak could drive down and attempt a shot solo, the attack has been more effiencent when multiple players have been involved.

Player to Watch: Aly Hassan’s positioning in last week’s match against Tulsa was exactly what SAFC needed. If he gets the nod in Colorado Springs, Hassan has the opportunity to lock down the striker role for the foreseeable future.

Pitch Black News Projected Starting XI (4-5-1): Restrepo; Newnam, Ibeagha, McCarthy, Cochrane; Tyrpak, Reed, O’Ojong, Pecka, Forbes; Hassan
Score Predictions:
Kyle Mahnke SAFC 1-1 COS
Jonathan Check SAFC 2-1 COS
Jose Mario Jimenez SAFC 2-0 COS
Aaron Marvel SAFC 1-0 COS
Jesus Miguel Garcia SAFC 2-1 COS
