San Antonio FC (5-0-1) finally reaches the end of their Cascadia 2 road trip as they face Portland Timbers 2 (1-5-0) Friday night in historic Providence Park.
San Antonio is in the midst of a league-leading start to the 2017 USL season. With 16 points through 6 matches, the Texas club is on an unbeaten streak unmatched by any other team in the league. Midfielder Billy Forbes leads the Western conference with 5 goals and 3 assists, while striker Cesar Elizondo and midfielder Rafa Castillo have banked two goals each. 8 members of the San Antonio FC roster have scored at least one goal this season.

Starting goalkeeper Matt Cardone came home early after coming off injured in the first match of the road trip at Vancouver Whitecaps 2 FC. Diego Restrepo came on in Vancouver and started in the club’s next match at Seattle where he recorded 6 saves in the 3-2 San Antonio victory.

Portland Timbers 2 will receive some help turning around their slow start via first-team defender Marco Farfan per a report by Goal.com. Farfan became the first true homegrown player to start for the MLS club earlier this season and was named to the MLS Team of the Week earlier this month. T2 recorded their first points of the season by defeating Sacramento Republic on the road last week.

Game Seven. Portland, OR. Friday 4/28/2017. Kickoff 9:30 CDT
How to Watch: SanAntonioFC.com, USL Match Center
Keys for SAFC: The end of the road trip is in sight and many usual-starters got rest in Seattle. If the “regulars” are back out in Portland (which I expect them to be), the defense has to keep the pressure off of Diego Restrepo. Restrepo is a high-level keeper, but showed some rust in Seattle that came close to costing the club points. Along with some midfield miscues, San Antonio was put into some dangerous positions Tuesday night, something they cant afford to have happen against a Portland side that is better than their record shows.
Player to Watch: Assuming we have the starting XI predicted correctly, Kris Tyrpak will be tasked with facing a MLS-caliber left back in Marco Farfan. The right winger will need to be creative, especially if T2 is able to shut down Billy Forbes on the opposite side.

Pitch Black News Projected Starting XI (4-2-3-1 / 4-2-4): Restrepo; Newnam, Ibeagha, McCarthy, Cochrane; Reed, Pecka; Tyrpak, Castillo, Forbes; Elizondo
Score Prediction:
Kyle Mahnke SAFC 2-2 T2
Jonathan Check SAFC 3-2 T2
Jose Mario Jimenez SAFC 2-1 T2
Aaron Marvel SAFC – T2
Jesus Miguel Garcia SAFC 3-1 T2
