A bittersweet victory in St Louis saw SA goalkeeper Matt Cardone earn USL Player of the Week honors for his clean sheet. Unfortunately, arguing a somewhat meaningless stoppage time PK cost the club deeply as Rafa Castillo earned his fifth yellow card on the season, resulting in a 1 game suspension.

San Antonio holds the final playoff berth at the moment, but Swope Park is only one point behind the Texas club in the standings making this matchup crucial for both sides. If San Antonio can come away with a point on the road, it should be considered a success given the missing pieces of Rafa Castillo and Seba Thuriere (int. duty) among the legion of injured players the club currently holds.

Franck “The Tank” Tayou has been vital as more than a super sub lately

Match Details: Game Twenty Five. Kansas City, MO. Wednesday 8/31/2016. Kickoff 7:30PM CDT

How To Watch: SanAntonioFC.com , USL Match Center

Keys for SAFC: Best advice for any team, “don’t lose.” The SA defense has to show up and prevent Swope from taking all three points. A loss would send SA tumbling and force a few must-win games.

Player To Watch: The entire midfield? Honestly without Reed, Rafa, and Seba the central midfield has struggled. Unfortunately the most notable stumble was the last time SA visited Swope Park. Whoever gets the nod to hold down the fort has to be ready to fill the massive shoes of Rafa.

On a similar note, the assumption is that SAFC minutes-leader Greg Cochrane will get the nod as Captain in the absence of Ford, Rafa, and Reed. The full back has a massive task ahead with so many “depth players” now in the starting XI

Manolo Sanchez may be called upon to have his biggest role yet

Pitch Black Projected Starting XI (4-1-4-1): Cardone; Gunderson, McBride, Bradnock-Brennan, Cochrane (c); Salazar; Johnson, Alvarez, Da. Garcia, Sanchez; Tayou

Score Prediction: Swope Park Rangers 1-1 San Antonio FC
