I don’t want to jinx it, but San Antonio FC has strung together some results in the last few matches. 7 points in the last 3 games has the Stripes a mere 3 points out of a playoff spot on the Western table.

Coming off back to back wins at home, San Antonio heads north to take on Tulsa Roughnecks FC. The first time the two clubs met San Antonio came away with a 3-1 victory. Since that meeting, Tulsa has tumbled to the basement of the West. Earning 11 points in their 15 games, Tulsa’s -17 goal differential is the worst in all of USL.

That being said, Tulsa did string together a 3-2 victory against Arizona United on Friday night. San Antonio cannot afford to sleep on the Oklahoma squad with the tough schedule they have coming up. Tulsa’s cross state rival OKC Energy FC return to Toyota Field to kickoff three straight tough games at home. SAFC hasn’t beaten OKC in their two meetings this year, and they follow that match by hosting consistent top clubs Los Dos and Vancouver.

A win in Tulsa puts SAFC in a great position at the halfway mark of the regular season. Anything less than 3 points could make it tough to rise up the table for the next few weeks, but as the win against Colorado Springs showed, anything can happen at Toyota Field.

SAFC Game 2-1-2

Match Details: Game Fifteen. ONEOK Field. Tulsa, OK. Sunday 7/3/2016. Kickoff 7:30PM CDT

How To Watch:  SanAntonioFC.com , USL Match Center

Keys for SAFC: San Antonio FC has finally strung together a few consecutive games of scoring well. The best results have come when the attack is able to split defenders and find the open man. If they can get Tulsa’s worst in the league defense out of position, the goal floodgates should remain open.

Player To Watch: Franck Tayou has been impressive in his 46 minutes of SAFC play so far. If the striker sees time, he absolutely has the potential to flip the match on its head.

Pitch Black Projected Starting XI (4-5-1): Ford (c); Palacios, McCarthy, McBride, Cochrane; Salazar; Alvarez, Reed, Castillo, Okiomah; Tayou

Score Prediction: Tulsa Roughnecks FC 1-3 San Antonio FC

  1. For some reason I am actually pretty nervous for tonight. I know Tulsa isn’t very good, but this is virtually a must win if SAFC want to make any type of run to the playoffs. Hopefully we get an early goal and can cruise.
